Common questions
Is this training legally required?
Alabama law does not currently mandate a specific training course for hemp retail employees. But the penalties for getting the law wrong are severe and land on the business — and documented training is among the strongest evidence a store can show a regulator, council, or court that it runs a genuine compliance program. Retailers train for the same reason they keep receipts.
Is this program approved by the ABC Board?
No — this is an independent educational program, not affiliated with or endorsed by the Alabama ABC Board or the State of Alabama. It does not replace any license or permit. We built it on the statute itself and keep it current as the rules change.
How long does it take?
Employee training runs about an hour including the exam. The manager track adds roughly another hour. Progress saves automatically — trainees can stop and resume anytime, on a phone or computer.
What if someone fails the exam?
They review the modules and retake it — unlimited attempts at no extra cost. The pass mark stays at 80% (85% for managers); we'd rather your team actually know the law than collect certificates.
When does certification expire?
One year from passing. Renewal is streamlined: trainees retake the exam without redoing the modules, and the certificate keeps its ID with a fresh expiration.
